ON MY HONOR, I WILL DO MY BEST TO DO MY DUTY TO GOD AND THE EMPEROR;
TO OBEY THE BOY SCOUT LAWS; AND TO HELP OTHER PEOPLE AT ALL TIME
Dear boy scout of TMS:
Greetings
As we are all taking a nostalgic journey back with the commemoration of the school’s 100
years anniversary, we are also, at the same time, reminiscing our shared history as the
proud boy scout of this great school. As we all reflect on our great past and savor the
good old days , please share your unforgettable memories and stories of your adventures
at all the trips who have made including, but not limited to Akaki, Entoto, Mojo, Zquala,
Lakes Langano, Hawasa(?), Abjata, Chamo, Abaya, Nech Sar (Arba Minch), Jig Jiga,
Lalibela, Asmera and many other places. These will surely generate good exchanges of
chats of the adventures and old memories of all of us. Let us keep it alive and for that to
happen, we are asking all boy scouts to chip in.
At the outset let us say how elated and excited we are to announce and introduce
our new chat platform for the former boy scouts of Tafari Makonnen School
(TMS) and with it to introduce its interim administrators who will help run and
develop it until the end of their term which is June 30, 2025. We are also happy to
share and recommend the draft proposals for the guidelines for the platform by
which each member will be governed. These bylaws or guidelines simply suggest
the requirements for members to follow and the roles and responsibilities for
each member. We are also attaching the names of the interim administrators and
coordinators who will lead us until their the end of their term which will end
June, 2025 at which time, the boy scouts of TMS will elect new administrators and
coordinators to serve for a period to be determined by the general body . If
members are willing to help in anyway, please let us know and we will happily
listen to your suggestions
GUIDELINES NAME
The name of this chat group will be known as the
1. FORMER BOY SCOUTS OF TAFARI MAKONNEN SCHOOL CHAT GROUP
2. OR THE FORMER BOY SCOUTS AND ROVERS OF TAFARI MAKONNEN
SCHOOL CHAT GROUP
Purpose
Our chat group is no different than millions of others similar to ours out there
which is to launch a platform to connect former boy scouts of TMS who have a
shared collective experience during the tender years as boy scouts. The TMS boy
scouts group, in our opinion, is a band of true brothers, and as such have
remained so to-date. We know such brotherhood has been and is being
manifested in so many ways by so many boy scouts of TMS who live in the same
cities, states, countries and across the oceans. It is with this in mind that we are
proud to launch this platform to bring the brothers closer and pass on their
unwavering friendships and experiences to the next generations.
In short our purpose is:
1. To connect former but scouts of the Tafari Makonnen School who we
believe share the same background and interest among them
2. To enjoy each other’s company whenever and wherever we meet
3. To generate and exchange lively discussion about the group and at a very
late stage, may be, write the history of boy scouts at TMS, talk about the
welfare of our boy scouts’ headquarters and future of boy scout at TMS.
(the last three were suggested by some scouts)
